Okay, two weeks away! WOW! Does it feel like you have everything to do and no time? or don’t even know where to begin on some things?! It can be a lot and that also depends on how much you are doing for your wedding!

This little list of things that I either implemented or with discussion amongst friends and clients have decided are important and can sometimes be overlooked before the wedding. So I wanted to make a list for a few weeks before the wedding. why 2 weeks? Well, you see, I am someone who has a hard time seeing the importance of doing something if it is like over a week away 😂 Time really just slips away.

So about two weeks before a major event, I start to get an idea of what I need and how I need to prep it and some times it is just me thinking it in my head and then executing and sometimes it is just be executing.

Anyways, enough about me. Here are a list of things to have on your checklist at least 2 weeks before your wedding:

  1. Travel plans for yourself and your gifts
Lots of times as the hosts of the party, you are so busy looking out for everyone else that you forget about yourself. If there is not a hotel very near to your reception site then I do hope that you plan on either having someone remain sober and drive or you are taking an uber or lyft. If you aren’t going home, send the gifts with a friend or family member that can either keep them at their house or drop them at your house. This just takes that off your mind especially if you will be going on a honeymoon right away.

  2. Check with your reception venue if you must clean up and have all of your items out of their that night or if you can pick up things in the morning. The wedding venue Kevin and I got married at, allowed us to come the next morning/early afternoon and collect any remaining decor, leftovers, or other belongings that were left behind. That was convenient so we again had a few less things to worry about the night of our wedding.

  3. Pick up marriage license. This is just a reminder if you haven’t already. 😊 You have 60 days after it is issued to get married and must get it at least 24 hours before you marry. Sooo like two weeks before your wedding is a pretty decent time to pick it up.

  4. If your rehearsal dinner plans are not already made, make them. Discuss with your ceremony venue if they host rehearsal dinners, if they do not host them, see if you can at least just use their space for a walk through the day before. Our venue let us just come in for a walk through of the ceremony the night before while they were setting up for the next day and then we had dinner at a different location.
If you have made your plans already, then be sure to inform the wedding party and family who are invited when and where it will be. If they already know, you can reach out and/or discuss again at this time if they are giving you weird signals.

  5. Select all music for the ceremony and reception. Usually around this time, the DJ is needing the tunes for sure for sure if you haven’t already gotten back to them.
Ask your DJ what music they are needing exactly and if there is an exact time you want the song to start, let the DJ know also!

  6. Try everything on that you will be wearing the day of your wedding so that you know that it will be feeling good on you on the day! If you are wearing heels and you haven’t broken them in yet, start now or buy some shoes that you will be comfy in! 😁 You will thank me, there is no reason to hurt yourself on your wedding day!

  7. Any final hair plans. Try not to do anything drastically different at this time. Get a trim or a touch up if needed, just so you feel totally good for the day! 💁‍♀️

  8. If you and your boo thang are writing vows, this would be the time to at least get your final outline done is your head so you know what to write the day of or before the wedding. 😂 It might be too late to purchase a personalized vow book if you two have not already. Maybe a nice, small notebook that you can exchange and continue to write memories or nice things in on your anniversaries. 🥰

Just again, as always, remember to have fun and to enjoy doing it together! This is where you two are promising forever together and that’s what is the most important thing of the day! No one will know if a center piece is missing or if you asked for red wrappers on the cupcakes instead of white 😂

Whenever you are feeling stressed, look over at your person and remember that they are the reason you are doing all this. 😁
